So impressed by the ultramarine blues of the Gulf of Mexico during a tuna fishing trip, I created this painting as soon as I got home. I am familiar with the brown and blackish waters of the Mississippi River and local bayous. I was shocked to see crystal clear deep water so blue and the fish darting through it as fast as birds fly. We brought home nine black fin tuna but I lost a battle with a large yellow fin.
Oil over acrylic on deep canvas, 48x60".
